Thanks for stopping by

I hope you all enjoyed reading about our first couple hours at Belmond Charleston Place as much as we enjoyed being there. Today, I am excited to share our luxurious accommodations and the other accommodations offered at the hotel with all of you.

From the street, the Belmond Charleston Place gives the illusion of a small boutique hotel with four of the floors set back in a tower. In actuality, the hotel consists of 8 floors filled with 435 luxurious guest rooms, including 48 suites.

The lobby of course contains all the shopping, restaurants, concierge, and their signature boutique. The boutique celebrates the famous Venice Simplon-Orient Express train with a replica of the train’s amenities shop.

At the top of the Georgian style staircase, a guest will find the second floor. While there are some guest rooms on the second floor, the floor’s main purpose is the hotel’s banquet and meeting space. Charleston Place has over 30,000 square feet of space for banquets and meetings, including a 14,000 square foot Grand Ballroom, ten function rooms, eight hospitality suites, the Grand Hall, and several outdoor courtyards. You all will remember, the Grand Hall and its chandelier, from when the hotel hosted my 22nd birthday photo-shoot this summer.  The second floor also holds a full-service Business Center. Having all their meeting space on one floor, makes it convenient for meeting planner and attendees, making Belmond Charleston place the most comprehensive banquet and conference services in the area.

The Belmond Charleston place recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that updated guest rooms to give them a more contemporary, timeless, and sophisticated feel.  Each room now features white Italian marble bathrooms, with rooms having the option of a soaking bathtub or shower. All rooms feature large flat screen televisions, a desk, complimentary Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, mini refrigerators, refreshment centers, and even those convenient USB port outlets for us electronic obsessed. There are suites spread out through each floor which include, junior suites and one bedroom suites.

The Deluxe level rooms on floors two through four offer a guest accommodations of a King size bed or two double beds. The square layout of these floors and the hotel’s full city block layout give the guest options on facing one of the many Charleston streets or one of the hotel’s beautiful courtyards.

The Premier level rooms on floors five and six are the first floors on the set back tower. The premier level rooms guarantee a bed type (King or 2 double beds) and higher floor views. There are also, Premier level rooms that feature a Juliet style balcony to enjoy views of some of Charleston’s most well-known streets.

The final top two floors, floors seven and eight, are the Club Floor of the Belmond Charleston Place. The 72 rooms located on these floors are private access via activated keycards for the elevator. A guest is guaranteed the highest floors in the hotel and great views, with some rooms including views of the water or the famous Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge.

On the seventh floor, guests will find their own personal concierge for the club floors, a comfortable seating area, and complimentary copies of newspapers such as the Post & Courier, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.

The seventh and eighth floors are connected by a beautiful staircase and statement chandelier. On the eighth floor, guests will find the exclusive concierge lounge. In the lounge, a guest has access to five complimentary food presentations. The presentations begin with breakfast spreads in the mornings. I promise you will not want to skip this breakfast as they have items like a delicious breakfast quiche that I will be craving for weeks to come. In the early afternoon, the lounge holds afternoon tea. Yes, ladies, they do have those cute little finger sandwiches that come to mind when you think of “afternoon tea.” The scones that are offered are pretty great as well. Following the afternoon tea hour, there is an evening cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres. These aren’t just any hors d’oeuvres, you’ll find fresh shrimp cocktails, crab legs, and other warm options as well. The presentations conclude with an evening pastry hour that features delicious desserts and cocktails.

Oh, and did I mention they have an open bar with top shelf liquor open from 11am until 10pm? Let’s just say that while you are staying up on the club floor, you will not be with lack of food or drinks! While enjoying drinks, you may even run into a famous face, as celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, and Natalie Portman favor the exclusive floors.

Our luxurious accommodations were located on the sixth floor. Our Luxury Premier Suite made us feel right at home with a spacious layout and a separate bedroom behind a set of French doors. The spacious layout included an eight person dinning room table, a wet bar filled with tasty snacks & drinks, a pull out tempurpedic sofa bed, two televisions, a full size bathroom, and a balcony. The plush accommodations did not stop there, behind the French doors, we found the living quarters. Our living quarters featured a King size bed, a desk, a small sitting area, another TV and another full bathroom. To say that this room was fantastic or exceeded our expectations would not be enough. Take a look for yourself:

The hotel truly spoiled us with a fantastic room, but that wasn’t enough. They went out of their way, as they do with all their guest, to exceed our expectations! Upon returning to our suite, we were surprised to find some treats and personalized letters welcoming us to the hotel. It was the perfect afternoon snack before getting back to work! The personalized letters, show exactly how much the hotel cares about each individual guest and making their stay as comfortable as possible. Later, we found out the hotel also does special amenities for guests who are at the hotel celebrating birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries. Returning guests are also treated to some special treats.

These amenities and other special items are all provided through the In Room dinning service of the Belmond Charleston Place. Another perk of the hotel is that guest have access to 24 hour in room dinning. An extensive list of items can be found on the menu. A late night menu is even available for those night owls or those returning from a night out on the town needing refreshments.

Its no wonder that with world class accommodations and exsquisite attention to detail, the Belmond Charleston place has received and continues to hold many awards. They’ve held their Four Diamond Award since 1992, the second-highest award level by the AAA Diamond Awards. The Forbes Travel Guide has awarded the Belmond Charelston Place the Four Star Award since 2005. Zagat surveys has named the hotel and the spa one of the Top U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas since 2003. Finally, the Robb Report has named Belmond Charleston Place one of the World’s Most Exclusive Luxury Hotels.

Now that we have everyone (including myself) wishing we were currently at the Belmond Charleston Place, we will stop here. Come back tomorrow and I’ll have you salivating over the delicious dishes that we had while dinning at the award winning Charleston Grill inside the Belmond Charleston place. Did I mention we will give you a sneak peek at their highly sought out Christmas Dinner? We’re regretting not adding “Christmas dinner at Charleston Grill” on our list for Santa….
