What happens when a group of bloggers, a couple of cocktails, and a new hotel get together? The result is Spectacular!

This past week we had the awesome opportunity of touring one of the newest hotels in downtown Charleston, The Spectator Hotel. Located in the French Quarter and near the Historic City Market, aspects of the roaring 20s meet the 21st century to create a timeless elegance.

Pulling up to the corner of State and Linguard Streets, we were greeted by valet and doormen who welcomed us to the 41-room boutiqute hotel. As the doors to the lobby opened, we entered a lavish lobby and bar full of hollywood glamour and warm southern hospitality!

After a brief introduction, we were led to the bar area of the hotel, full of even more glitz and glam. We met Steven ,the mixologist, who introduced us to a few of the Spectator’s popular drinks. The ladies sipped on the Flappers Delight, while us boys enjoyed Moscow Mules and a Sullivan and Co. The bar lounge is impeccably designed with a high attention to detail. From green bar stools to  various seating areas featuring tuffed couches, velvet chairs, and even a white peacock.

Next, we took a ride in an all-gold elevator, accesible only by guests with a Spectator wrist band and key. We headed to check out the accomodations of the hotel, each full of different furtniture and decor. A total of 7 different specially designed furniture sets are used in the hotel. The Spectator’s Interior Designer, Jenny Keenan worked closely with Meridian, to interpret the vision of the hotel in furniture found throughout each room.

While mixing pieces from around the world and different eras, Keenan and the Spectator value its Charleston roots. Local sourcing is visible throughtout the property. Photographs from photographer Andrew Cebulka are hanging in guestrooms and artwork by Charleston Artist Collective artists can be found in the lobby and bar.

Once we stepped into the first room we could not look around fast enough. The more we looked, the more that we fell in love with. The elegant and sophisticated design wowed us all. The spacious bathrooms full of marble and glass made for a great spot for all four of us touch up before pictures. We all loved that every room was different, giving returning guests a new experience every time. As we toured through a few of the 41 rooms the Spectator offers, we each picked out a room that we would each soon be back to experience.

Hesitantly leaving the last room we were in, we headed back in the golden elevator to the main floor, where we enjoyed a few more cocktails before heading out. We knew this wouldnt be our last trip to the Spectator. We had each fallen in love with the Spectator’s twist on a combination of eras and their support for local artisans. Unique glitz and glam truly meets Southern hospitality at the Spectator, a place to be see and be seen at.

A big thank you to The Spectator Hotel and their team for showing us around the property and making us feel so welcomed! If you’re planning a trip to Charleston, then book your stay at the Spectator for an unforgettable experience.
